ADJUSTMENTS WORKSHOP - July 2024
A good assist can change the way we understand a pose. Whether it’s bringing awareness to a different part of the body, encouraging activation, or finding hidden space, adjustments can have a huge impact on a person’s practice.
In this workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of giving adjustments. As well as looking at when and why we might give an assist, we’ll also look at adjustment intentions as well as the difference between passive and active assists and when they’re most appropriate.
You’ll get to practice hands-on assists with a focus on directionality, anchoring, and the removal of weight. We’ll also look at the dose of an assist too, and how to find that sweet spot between too much, and not enough.
As well as hands-on assists, we’ll dive into the important area of consent, the use of props, and the idea of ‘homework.’ By the end of this workshop, you’ll know how to give safe assists in a range of postures including standing, seated and backbend postures.
